About Me

My name is Whitney Reeves.  I was raised in Fritch, Texas where I still live, eat, breathe, and teach.  I don't think I would want to live anywhere else.  I feel safe here and want to raise my children in a small town.  We only have one elementary here and it is a great school and a wonderful place to teach.

I graduated high school from Sanford-Fritch High School in 2002.  I went to Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas and received my Associates in Science in 2004.  I then went on to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas where I received my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2008.

In the meantime I got married to my high school sweetheart, Shawn in 2003.  We had our first son, Cooper, in 2006 and our second son, Ryder in 2008.  Our boys and jobs keep us very busy, but we wouldn't want it any other way.

I started teaching Pre-K in August of 2008 when I was called on Friday, the Monday before school started.  I got my classroom ready in 48 hours.  I was pregnant at the time and the whole year I was flying by the seat of my pants.  I really enjoyed the year, and think I did a good job with my kiddos, but if I had it all to do over again, I would have done a lot of things differently.  I think every first year teacher feels this way.  Maybe. I hope. (Ha-Ha)

The next year I taught Kindergarten.  I was moved to kindergarten the Friday before the Monday that school started.  I was getting good at setting up a classroom in 48 hours.  This was a blessing in disguise as first.  I went from part time the year before to full time.  I learned the most this year as I was forced to.  I had great co-teachers that helped me a LOT!  I got to keep a lot of the same students from the previous year.  I was SO tired but I knew I was where I was meant to be.

Last year, my third year I was moved back to Pre-K.  This time I actually knew the whole summer I would be teaching Pre-K.  I had time to prepare my lesson plans, make things, put together my classroom.  I had an AMAZING year with AMAZING students and an AMAZING teachers assistant.

As I write, I am going into my 4th year.  I will be in Pre-K and feel more prepared than ever!

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching movies, shopping, watching reality tv (my guilty pleasure), playing games, and surfing the web (mainly for teaching ideas).  My favorite movies are sappy love stories like The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Dear John, etc.  As my favorite movies imply I am a big fan of Nicholas Sparks books.  I also LOVE the Twilight Saga and Biographies.  I love music!  When I am not at school and listening to Dr. Jean and Stephen Fite I enjoy country, new rock, Christian, and a small handful of alternative.  My favorite TV shows are General Hospital, The Biggest Loser, and American Idol.
